AVON HAUL #3

I purchased some of the new products AVON has out now and wanted to share them with you.  I sold AVON for almost 20 years and they have come a long way with their eyeshadow products.  I have quite a few of the older shadows and some are too chalky or glittery or just plain dry.  These new products are AWESOME and are very affordable.  The prices vary so check with your local AVON representative or online at avon.com.

ALWAYS ON POINT eye liner:  These come in 6 shades.  I purchased the Midnight Navy and the Black.  They other shades are Deep Plum, Lavender Grey, Brown and Black/Brown.  The regular price is $8.00.  These always have a point because there is a sharpener in the cap so very time you put the cap on the next time you use it, there will be a point.  They are waterproof and smudgeproof.  I find that they last on the upper last line but can transfer to the lower lash line before it sets.  Once it sets, it does stay on well.  On the lower lash line it can smudge but if you use eyeshadow primer on the lid and lower lash line, it stays well.  I will also put an eyeshadow over it on the lower lash line which helps to last even longer.  I really like these.  They go on nicely.  The formula is not real dry but not too creamy.  It doesn't pull on the eye when applying.  I will be purchasing a few just in case AVON discontinues them.  AVON has a nasty habit of doing that with some products.

Left (black)  Right (midnight navy)

COSMIC EYESHADOW:  These are the only baked eyeshadows AVON carries.  It comes in 6 shades.  I purchased the Cosmic Brown, Pink Eclipse and Jaded Moon.  The Jaded Moon is not shown but it is a olive green with a light brown, pink and champagne marble.  These can be used wet or dry.  The pigmentation is wonderful and they last all day with an eyeshadow primer.  I use e.l.f sheer primer.  I really like these.  I have several baked eyeshadows.  You can use them dry for a lighter color or wet for a more intense color.  They blend very well.  These are $6.00 regular priced.

TRUE COLOR EYESHADOW DUO:  These are the new duos.  The old duos were mostly shimmer colors and the new ones are a shimmer and a matte.  The shimmer is very pigmented but not too shimmery.  Just a bit of shimmer.  The matte is VERY pigmented and both blend beautifully.  They are soft and long lasting.  These come in 11 duos and are $6.00 regular price.  I really like these too.  These have come a long way from the old duos.  The one I purchased is Golden Rivieria.

TRUE COLOR EYESHADOW SINGLE:  These come in 20 shades.  2 metallic, 8 mattes and 10 shimmers.  They are currently on sale for $2.99 each but the regular price is $4.00.  Check with you local AVON representative or online at avon.com for the current prices.  The once I purchased are Plum Burgundy and Brown/Black.  These eyeshadows are so pigmented and blend beautifully.  These are great transition colors or use in the outer corner or lower last line.  They last with an eyeshadow primer, of course.

Beauty Box 5 - DEC

Here are the items I received in the December Beauty Box 5.  I have been getting these for a few months and this box I am VERY happy with.  I hope to get more products like these, that I can get use from.  Enjoy.

OFRA Cosmetics Sulty Lipgloss Plumper:  This is lovely color that can flatter any skin tone.  It looks dark in the tube, but it goes on sheer with a hint of color .  It says that it has a mint flavor, but I did not find that there was any flavor to it.  The mint must be very light.  I like light glosses and this is not heavy or sticky.  It feels like lip balm, very smooth. It has the slanted tip for easy application or you can just squeeze some out and apply with your finger or a lip brush.  I really like this product.

BODY DRENCH Daily Moisturizing Lotion:  This is a wonderful lotion that you can use all over.  I have been using it on my hands and face.  I keep it on my desk to use after I do my nails.   It really hydrates and moisturizes.  I also use it on my face after I wash my face.  It has not caused any breakouts and it absorbs quickly and without feeling greasy.  The smell it suppose to be aromatherapy but I think it smells like a bar of soap.  I love the clean smell and I love this product.

CLEAN & CLEAR Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer:  This is known as one of the best moisturizers on the market and I can see why.  This lightweight gel is a powerhouse.  It has a bright citrus fragrance and goes on without being greasy.  I use this before I apply my makeup, around my eyes and on the lids and around my nose.  I also apply it all over my face too, but I concentrate it more in those areas.  I will be re-purchasing this when I have used it up.  A little goes a long way, so it is worth the price.  A regular size costs about $7.  It will last you for a long time.  I agree that is a great moisturizer.

EVERY BEAUTY Flexible Foot Smoother:  This product can be used on feet, elbows and knees to help remove rough, dry skin.  I have not used this yet but will be trying it.  I will let you know later how I rate the usage.  The package states that it is soft and flexible....it IS NOT.  It is very hard.  I wet it to see if it would soften up but it did not.  It conforms to your hand to help with gripping but this product is not soft.  One side is coarse and the other side is fine.  The middle is a sponge, but it is hard.  I hope it performs better as a products to remove coarse and dry skin.

December 29, 2013:  I tried the foot smoother today and I get a bit softer when wet.  It is flexible and easy to use in the shower but I still find it a bit hard.  It does conform to your hand a lot easier when it is wet.  I saw a difference after using it.  It did remove the rough skin very well.  I don't think I would re-purchase but it did work well.

NYX Cosmetics Love in Rio Eyeshadow Palette:  I was SO EXCITED to see a FULL SIZE NYX eyeshadow palette in this Beauty Box.  I have a few NYX shadows that I purchased on Ebay and I really like them.  This palette is gorgeous.  The colors are just bit shimmery but not glittery. The pigmentation is AWESOME.  I use eyeshadow primer (e.l.f sheer primer $1) which makes these last all day with no creasing or flaking or smudging.  The charcoal is deep beautiful, the cranberry is lovely too and the champagne color is great for a lip color or every the brow bone.  I used the cranberry color to re-produce a video by Sharon Farrell for one of her holiday looks and it worked perfectly.  Check out her video for this look.  I have added it below.  I love NYX shadow and will be making many more purchases from this brand.

STUDIO M haul

When I was at the grocery I saw that the entire section of STUDIO M makeup products were on clearance.  I LOVE eyeshadow and they were from $.99 to $1.49 so I picked up a few and wanted to share them with you.

STUDIO M baked eyeshadows:  (from top to bottom) Metallic, Milk Chocolate, Lilac and Rosy.

ROSY:  This is a lovely lavender marble baked eyeshadow.  It is shown above dry.  Baked eyeshadows can be used wet or dry.  I use them both ways.  When wet the color is more intense.  This is beautiful lid color with just a hit on shimmer, not too much.

MILK CHOCOLATE:  This is not really what I would call milk chocolate.  It is more of a mocha brown with a champagne pink marble.  It makes a really light beige together.  This has a lot of shimmer to it.  I used this as a lid color and the glitter in it is really flaky.  I did not like this at all.  I used it dry.  I will try it wet to see if the flakyness is just as bad.  Other than that, I looked great with the other colors I paired it with and lasted great with primer.

METALLIC:  I LOVE these colors.  They are metallic but not as glittery as Milk Chocolate.  The copper makes a great lid color and the gold a good brow bone hightlight.  The darker brown is a wonderful crease and corner color.  I really like these and will be using them regularly and pairing with other colors.  Browns go great with greens, pinks and purples.

LILAC:  These colors are beautiful both wet and dry. The rosy gold color is lovely as a lid color wet and as a brow highlight dry.  The plumy/brown is great both wet and dry as a crease, outer corner and liner color.  Even though this is broken, I will be using these quite a bit as well.

These shadows are great quality and were affordable even not on sale or clearance.  I love finding thing on sale and also great colors.  I also picked up one of the larger pallets that has 4 different colors.  I will add that to this blog at a later date.  Please check out the video below for this review and more on my you tube channel.  Thanks for reading and watching.  Please share, follow and comment.

e.l.f haul

While I was grocery shopping a few weeks ago, I saw that some e.l.f items were on clearance and decided to purchase a few.  Here is a review of those items.

e.l.f Custom Compact:  This was originally $1 and was on clearance for $.75.  This is an empty, magnetic eyeshadow pallette where you purchase the individual e.l.f eyeshadows and put them in this compact.  This may fit other eyeshadows that are magnetic.  Most of the items had been picked over but I did get a few decent colors to make the pallette.  The colors I chose, from top left to bottom right are: Wysteria, Pink Ice, Driftwood and Purple.  All of these are very pigmented and very soft shadows.  A little bit goes a long way.  e.l.f is a cheap product with a great formula and when it is on clearance you can't beat the value.

Wysteria:  Beautiful lavender/lilac shade which would be a great lid color or transition color.

Purple:  A deep grape purple that would be wonderful as a crease or outside corner color and even a liner color it applied over a black or plum eye liner.

Driftwood:  A chocolate/bronze color that would make a good lid color and liner.

Pink Ice:  This color is not pink at all.  It is a creamy bone color that would be used as a brow contour.

All of these colors blended well.  For the price ($5.00 total), you get a lot of product.  This pallette would be good to just pop into your purse or keep in your desk at work.  You can get at least 2, maybe 3 looks from these colors.  You can go from day to night with these colors as well.

Beauty Box - November

This is a review of products received with my Beauty Box 5 for the month of November.

AVEENO Positively Nourishing Calming Body Wash:  I was a bit disappointed that when I received my Beauty Box that this product had leaked out a bit.  I had accumulated a the rim of the cap.  There was still a bit of product inside for me to try it.  The smell is very nice of the lavender, chamomile and ylang ylang.  It lathers well and leaves skin soft not dry.  Aveeno is a well know products and can be a bit pricey.  Beauty Box 5 gave a sample of the lotion last month.  I love Aveeno products and was happy to be able to try some of them with my Beauty Box 5.  If I ever see these items on sale, I will definitely be repurchasing them.

Montague Jeunesse Glacial Cooling Face Mask:  This is a fabric mask that is suppose to cleanse pores and strengthen your skin's natural barriers.  It is said to be made with crushed Artic cloud berries.  I have not used this product as of yet, but will be trying it soon.  I will edit this blog later with the results.

SECRET Clinical Strength Invisible Solid Deodorant:  This is the deodorant to claim to work on 3 types of sweat: stress, activity and heat.  This is a full size product.  It is an invisible solid.  When I applied, it goes on clear and dries with no white residue.  I really like this product.  It can be quite pricey, but for those who need the extra protection, this is a great product.  I usually use a roll on but I really like Secret products and this one is no different as far as the quality.  The smell is very clean and not to strong.  I find that it does not break me out as some deodorants do.  This will definitely be a repurchase.

Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Crayon:  I LOVE this crayon.  I used it as a corner color with a lighter lavender as my lid color and I put a bit of a MAC color over this and blended at it was such a pretty eye look.  It lasted for the entire time I was at work (6 hours), and even well after.  I did not end up taking off my makeup for a total of about 9 hours and it wore very well.  It is very creamy and blends well with a brush or your finger.  The pigmentation is wonderful.  A little bit goes a long way.  It can be screwed up from the bottom of the pencil.  I have another Be A Bombshell product from a few months ago (an eyeshadow) and I LOVE these products.  I have not been disappointed in how long the products last or the pigmentation.

Bella Pierre Glitter:  This is a semi-fine pink glitter that can be used on the face and body.  I will be using it for nail art as I don't use glitter on my face and it is bit chunky to use all over the body, for me.  A few months back, Bella Pierre was in a Beauty Box with a fine gold glitter.  I would be good for over the body.  This one is a bit rougher cut.  I would be great for nails with the consistency.

The coupons that were sent this this Beauty Box are great.  A free Secret Clinical Deodorant.  These can run up to $5 depending on where you live.  I have been using this product and like that it is an invisible solid but I do not like that it tends to "ball up".  I get fine "crumbs" after using it which I do not like.  I usually use a roll on from AVON and have not had the issue with "crumbs".  I will continue to use the product, especially with the FREE coupon but it will not be a purchase I will  be paying for going forward.  The other coupons are also wonderful.  I have used them but have until February 2014 to make up my mind.  I will be looking into the fragrance on the go as I like taking my fave colognes with me instead of the whole bottle.

I did enjoy this Beauty Box.  I love the Be a Bombshell products. I have sign up on their website and will be making many purchases.  I love the pigmentation and the way it lasts.  I loved the Aveeno body wash and may re-purchase a larger bottle.  The smell was great and it did not leave a film on my skin and was very soothing.  I have not tried the mask yet, but will look into it.
