Beauty Box 5 March 2014

This is my review for Beauty Box 5 for March 2014.  There was not a card in my box this month to help explain the products, sorry.  I did like most of the products, but I did not like the polish.  I have been a member of Beauty Box 5 for only a few months and have already received 3 nail polishes all in the same color, pink.  I don't wear pink that often and I already have many so I would think that if I was to receive a polish it would not be the same color each time.  They are not even different colors of pink.  They are all the exact same color.  Below, there is a picture of them all.  You tell me what you think.
Please enjoy the following review.  Make sure to follow my blog and subscribe to my youtube channel for more reviews, hauls, nail tutorials and more.

Hard Candy Nail Color in Pretty in Pink:  I just ranted about this above, so there is not much more to be said.  I do like the polish, I just wish it were a different color.  This comes with a plastic ring on the top that you can wear or give away.

Here is a picture of the polishes I have received from Beauty Box 5.  They are different brands, but as you can see, they are the same color.  The only difference, is the NUBAR one is matte.  Other than that, they are all the same.

BellaPierre Makeup Base:  This can be used as an eyeshadow primer, concealer or make up primer.  The color seemed a bit too light for me but when I used it as an eyeshadow primer, it sheered out.  It kept my eyeshadow looking fresh for hours.  I have several different primers and I can say that I really like this one.  This container will last for quite a while.

Jane's Pick Handmade Bar Soap:  I love soaps.  I really like this one.  It smells like the forest.  The package has different scents listed but none where checked as to what this one was.  I went to the website and found that it was PATIENCE which is black spruce, fir needles and rosewood.  It smells really fresh, like outside on a Spring day.

SWISSCO Dual Sided Facial Pad:  I have not used this yet, but will soon.  It is a facial pad with loofah to lightly buff the skin.  The back has a handle to hang it up after use and a large elastic band to put your hand thru.  I will report back when I use it on how it works and if I like it.

UPDATE (3-28-14) I used the facial pad today and it plumps up when it is wet.  It looks like the shredded wheat cereal.  It did a great job on my face.  It was very soft and non irritating.  My face felt really good after using it.

TREE HUT Shea Body Butter in Coconut Lime:  I love lotions and I love this one.  It is really rich and creamy.  The coconut scent comes thru but later after you apply it the coconut tones down and the lime comes thru.  I will look into purchasing another when I run out.  I love to smell "edible" in the Spring and Summer.  I don't know why.  I have lots of lotions and body sprays that smell like food (i.e coconut, pineapple, pomegranate, vanilla, etc).

I hope you enjoyed this review.  If you have any questions or comments, please list any.  I will be more than happy to reply.  Please check out the video below for the review for any additional info.  Thanks for reading and watching.

AVON HAUL

I got some new items from AVON recently and wanted to share them with you.  There are some new products and some old.  I hope you enjoy.

Skin So Soft Wintersoft hand lotion and body creamThere are several different Skin So Soft products.  This is the Wintersoft series.  I have noticed these come out only in the late fall and winter.  I have seen them for several years but never tried them until about 2 years ago and fell in love.  Some of our winters in Ohio can be very dry and this current winter is no exception.  These are both very moisturizing.  There is a very soft smell, like powder and they are both very rich and absorb quickly and are not greasy.  I had already purchased a hand cream and body cream and bought a back up since they were on sale for $3.99 each before they go away until this fall.

Elements Moisture Boost Night Gel Cream:  These are new products and come in different formulas. Blue for moisture, yellow for revilatizing and purple for youth restoring.  Each formula has different products for different skin problems.  I chose this one because I wanted to try a night moisture cream.  This gel is very light and has no smell at all.  It is oil free and leaves my skin feeling great.  In the morning my face feels very soft and smooth.  This was on sale as well which was even more incentive to try it.

Clearskin Professional Daily Correcting Lotion:  This comes in a series on the same lines as Proactive.  You have different steps to follow for acne control.  There are 3 or 4 steps.  A scrub, toner, correcting lotion and a mask.  I only use the correcting lotion after I wash my face and before I apply my moisturizer before bed.  This helps control my acne.  I am in my 40's and I still get break outs.  It comes in a pump bottle, which I really like.  It only take a few pumps to have enough to cover my face.  If I do not use this every day, I can tell the difference as my face will start to break out.  It has .50% salicylic acid.  With the acne face wash I use that has 1% salicylic acid, these two help keep down breakouts.

Mosaic Effects Top Coat:  These are AVON's version of crackle polish.  I have several colors.  Check out my polish collection video for AVON to see those I have.  There are a few new colors and I chose these.  The gold is Gold Glimmer and the green is Gleaming Emerald.  With all crackle polish, you just need just a little bit.  If you put on too much or too thick the crackle doesn't work well.

Extra Lasting Concealer:  This is my favorite concealer and you have heard or read me singing its praises.  It goes on smooth and covers wonderfully.  I don't have any problems with caking.  It evens out my skin tone on my eyelids before I apply primer.  I set this concealer with the Revlon PhotoReady finishing powder.  The color I use is chestnut.

Dual Ended Nail Tool:  This is a new product.  This is great for those who are new to nail art of for those who just want to experiment.  One end is a small brush and the other end is a small dotting tool.  I have used the dotting tool end, it is a standard tool.  I cut down the brush a bit as I felt it was to thick.  I works alright.  I will use it as a back up for filling in larger spaces or outlining a design. This is a great and inexpensive tool for only $1.49 each.
 I bought 3.

Color Crème Eyeshadow:  Here are a few new eyeshadows.  There are 4 of these and I got 2 of them.  The colors are hazelnut and fig.  These go on nicely.  I use a brush to apply and blend before they set.  I use an eyeshadow primer with any eyeshadow I use.  I like these as a base color.  They are sheer and can be built up.  You can put another color over them to build color as well.  A little goes a long way with these.  I don't have any cream shadows in my collection but I really like these.

Here is one of the other colors in this collection. There are 4 in total.  I just got this one yesterday.  This color is Champagne.  I  used this today as a base color with smokey grey as a corner and crease color.  It was very nice.  It did will with a primer.  This color would be a great base with another color over it.

This color is Hazelnut.

This color is Fig.

mark eyeshadow:  These are shadows you can buy individually.  They come in matte, shimmer and metallics.  These can be used wet or dry.  You can also buy the holder for 2 or 4 shadows.  I only have the one that holds 2.  They are magnetic and easy to take in and out.  I have about 6 different colors total of these shadows.  You get a lot of product that will last you for a very long time.  These shadows are very pigmented and blend nicely.  They run about $6 per shadow.  The holders are about $6-$8.

This color is Luster.

This color is Tiki.

These shadows come in a box and then inside these plastic containers.  These are sturdy and are great storage when you are switching out your colors from the magnetic compact.  These two are colors I already had.

This color is Moulliee.

This color is Barista.  I did not mention it in my video, sorry.

Here are the other 2 that I mentioned, that I have had for a long time.  These have so much product, it will take quite a while to use it all.  As you can see, I have used these and still have a lot to go.  I have had these about 5 years.  This color is a dark blue called Night Owl.

This color is Java.  It is a dark burgundy brown.  I love with color and they all blend beautifully.

Hearts N Horns (product likes and dislikes) FEB 2014

I have started a new segment called Hearts N Horns for my product likes and dislikes.  Here is my first review.  I hope you enjoy.

HORNS

RIMMEL SCANDAL EYES Eye Liner:  I purchased this last year with all the hype.  I wanted to try it out since I was looking for an eyeliner that would stay put, especially on the lower lash line.   I tried this and it goes on smooth and creamy and is suppose to be waterproof but it did not stay on my upper or lower lash line.  It transferred down to my lower lash line and smudged on the lower last line with the "black eye" affect which I did not like.  I purchased this at Walmart for about $4.97.  I will try to use it up, but I was not happy with it at all.

MAYBELLINE FIT ME Foundation:  I purchased this last year as well and liked this at first.  I later noticed that it left a dewy finish on my skin when it is supposed to be shine free.  I like my foundation matte.  This also streaked and did not have staying power.  I found that it started to fade and make my face oily after only a few hours.  I may use it up but I don't know.  I have found something much better that I have listed below, that works wonderfully.  This was $7.99 at Walgreens.

E.L.F Foundation Brush:  I really did not like this product.  It has synthetic bristles that make me feel like I am painting a wall instead of putting on foundation.  The bristles streaked my foundation and it just feels weird.  I much prefer my foundation brush from AVON.  As you can see below, the brush is a bit bigger and wider.  It has natural bristles and leaves and airbrushed finish.  I really love that brush.  It is a Heart.

HEARTS

REVLON Photoready Translucent Finisher:  I use this to set my foundation and concealer.  It works for all skin tones so don't let the color fool you.  Using my E.L.F professional face brush, I dab it into the powder and pat it all over after I apply my foundation and concealer, then blend it in.  I have a dark complexion and it doesn't leave a chalky finish at all.  It absorbs and you don't even know it is on but it helps to keep you makeup looking fresh, natural and matte.

WET N WILD brow/eye liner in Dark Brown:  This is my fave brow pencil.  I was using a Wet n Wild eyeliner in black but found that it did not last without fading.  I saw these on sale at Rite-Aid for buy 1 get 1 50% off.  This brow/eye liner goes on nicely and lasts all day without fading.  I really love it and for the price, it can't be beat.  It was less than $1 but is regularly priced at a little over $1.

AVON Extra Lasting Concealer:  This is my favorite concealer.  It is the perfect color for my skin tone and last all day.  It doesn't cake or cause dry patches.  I use this under my eyes and on my eyelids to even out any dark patches.  I also use it on any blemishes after I apply by foundation and set it with the REVLON PhotoReady Translucent Finisher listed above.

e.l.f Eyelid Primer:  This is my favorite eye primer.  I have several primers and will be doing a comparison on them later on, so stay tuned for that.  This primer is on $1.  I purchased mine at Meijer, You can also get it at Target, Walmart or anywhere e.l.f is sold.  On the e.l.f  website, these come in different colors.  This is the sheer.  I have had no problem with this causing my eyeshadow to crease.  My eyeshadow lasts all day when I use this. I also apply some on my lower last line to help keep eyeliner from transferring.  I find this to work really well.  If you put an eyeshadow over the eye liner, that will also make it last too.

COVER GIRL Clean Makeup (Sensitive Skin):  I have finally found the color foundation that matches with my skin tone.  I have been looking for this for many years.  I have found some that were close to my complexion but this one is, hands down, the best  match.  These come in 3 formulas.  The Cover Girl logo is rubbed off on my bottle, but it is the green circle for sensitive skin.  There is also a brown for normal skin and blue for oil control.  I got this at Walgreens when they are having buy 1 get 1 50% off sale on quite a few makeup brands.  This formula is light-weight and covers wonderfully.  It evens out my skin tone very well.  You could build this up but it is a medium coverage foundation.  I really love it and will be purchasing another bottle as a back up.  I use the e.l.f  professional stipple brush to apply it or my AVON foundation brush.  Both work well.  It doesn't leave any streaks and the coverage is great.  You don't need much at all.

I hope you enjoyed this review of products I really love and those that didn't cut the mustard.  If you have any questions or suggests, please feel free to comment.  I would love to hear from you.  Make sure to subscribe to my youtube channel for more videos and tutorials.  Check out the video below for more info.  Thanks for reading and watching.
